ATSC – AIR TRAFFIC SERVICES CENTRE

Twin facilities at Melbourne and Brisbane airports have been delivered as part of the most complex transformation of air traffic management in Australian aviation history. The program, known as OneSKY, is a partnership between Airservices and the Department of Defence which has replaced existing air traffic management systems with an advanced integrated system known as the Civil Military Air Traffic Management System (CMATS).

The new Air Traffic Service Centres (ATSC) each comprising Control Operations Room, Building Services Centre, equipment rooms, power plants, chiller plants and car parking facilities. Systems were designed with 2N+1 redundancy, the highest form of data centre redundancy which provides a completely paralleled backup system along with additional components to account for failure and maintenance in each system.

The facility comprises of groups of Innotech OMNI controllers managing and/or monitoring the building HVAC services including Chiller & Boiler Sets, CRAC units, Air Handling Units, Fan Coil Units, Generator Sets, Diesel Fuel Systems, Fire Systems Monitoring, Energy (Power, Water & Gas) Monitoring & NTMS Fault integration.

Some elements of the system will be monitored and controlled by High Level Interfaces (HLI) however some control level interfaces are performed at low level in accordance with industry best practice.

Systems using HLI interfaces are the Chilled Water Pump VSD’s, Chillers, Heating Water Pump VSD’s, Boilers, AHU Fan VSD’s, General Ventilation Fan VSD’s, CRAC Units, Generator Sets, Weather Station, Power Meters, Water Energy Meters, Power Distribution Units, Air Services NTMS System & Solar PV System

There are 2x (two) BMS Servers is located in the BSC building‘s control room, the 2x BMS servers run co-currently independent of each other; the system incorporates a Graphical User Interface solution to interrogate the BMCS, additionally each the OMNI controllers have a built in onboard embedded web interface that can be utilized to interrogate the controller for live values, datalogging etc
